Eduardo BARANZANO

Eduardo Baranzano and us.

One of todays's top classical guitarist and guitar musicologist, Eduardo has recorded with and for us and  guided us through the uncharted, for us, paths of guitar recording. Together we have recorded in abandoned churches - very romantic -, theatres - both active and abandoned, these latter not so romantic -, rock rehearsing cabins and active, alive chapels. Many, many sessions, all memorable, especially one in a gale well worth of  Wagner's Götterdämmerung!!

Together we have opened new paths in the recorded guitar literature as in:

Ar023 Gitarraren artea—The Art of the Guitar - El arte de la guitarra - guitar music by XXth Century Basque composers -
Aita Donostia:
Irulea; Ene ama othoi errazü; Tiento y Canción; Vor´l Ter; Errimiña; Oñazez; Aita Madina: Aldapeko; Danza rapsódica. José de Azpiazu: Boston; Harlem; Errimiña; Félix Ibarrondo: Cristal y Piedra; Francis Goudard: Ama goxoa; Xabier Lasa: Mattintxo zalduntxo; Javier Busto: ELE; SOINU; eta DANTZA; Tomás Aragüés: Canción sin palabras.

or,

aArus055 Fernando Sor. Los manuscritos Cortabarria. The Cortabarria Manuscripts. Vol I. Obras desconocidas de Fernando Sor recogidas por un alumno suyo. Eduardo Baranzano, guitarra.

The Cortabarria Manuscripts are a collection of hand-written and early edition books written and collected by the Cortabarria brothers in Paris in the late XVIIIth and early XIXth. The Cortabarrias were pupils of Sor and Aguado and amongst these manuscripts there are previously unknown works by both these Masters and by less known composers such as the Carnicer brothers  one of whom was the author of the Chilean National Anthem. We plan to edit a series of recordings with the most interesting works in these books.

Eduardo also coordinated the work of 40 guitarists in the recording of:

aAr032 José de Azpiazu AIREAN (2 CDs). A Hommage to the founder of the Basque Guitar Tradition, p
laying the solo parts in Azpiazu's two concerts: Concierto Barroco and Suite Elizabetana.

We have just releasedthe latest of Eduardo's world premier recordings:

aArus071 The Operatic Guitar. 2nd volume of the Cortabarria Manuscript Series contaning Opera transcriptions by the Carnicer - Ramón and Miquel- brothers.
